Mother of Mercy Pastoral Unit
Mother of Mercy Pastoral Unit
We are so blessed to have Father Callistus to guide and lead us spiritually in our parishes. The Mother of Mercy Pastoral Council was formed in July, 2014 due in part to the recent changes of the Diocese of Antigonish.
We are pleased to announce that his Excellency Bishop Brian Dunn decreed on January 15, 2015 that our cluster be known as The Mother of Mercy Pastoral Unit.
The Mother of Mercy Pastoral Unit takes in the following parishes: St. Francis de Sales, Lower River Inhabitants; St. Louis Parish, Louisdale; St. Margaret, West Bay Road and St. Mary of the Angels, Glendale. The Pastoral Unit has representatives from the four parishes.
Father Callistus is the chairperson, Bob L. Samson is the Vice Chair and Frances McCarthy is the secretary. Each parish will be financially responsible for a certain percentage based on the average of Envelopes and Loose Collections over the past three years which will total 100%.
-
St. Louis Parish 42 %
-
St. Francis de Sales 30 %
-
St. Mary of the Angels 20 %
-
St. Margaret 8 %
-
At our last meeting St. Margaret Parish, West Bay Road requested that they be given a 12 month exemption on their cost share of 8%. The council granted St. Margaret parish a 6 month exemption effective March 1, 2015. The Mother of Mercy council will re-evaluate St. Margaret’s request that time. The other three parishes will be financially responsible for a certain percentage based on the average of Envelopes and Loose Collections over the past three years which will total 100%.
-
St. Louis Parish 45 %
-
St. Francis de Sales 33 %
-
St. Mary of the Angels 22 %
-
Bishop Dunn made the following recommendations:
-
The existing Tri- Parish Council which has been in existence will continue to operate.
-
St. Louis Parish will have their own Parish Council.
-
Each parish will have their own finance committee
If you would like to submit your name to join either St. Louis or the Tri-Parish councils, please contact any member. As your representatives, we want to keep you informed of any matters. If you have any comments and or concerns, please feel free to contact your parish council representatives.
